kbuild: support LLVM=1 to switch the default tools to Clang/LLVM
commit a0d1c951ef08ed24f35129267e3595d86f57f5d3 upstream. As Documentation/kbuild/llvm.rst implies, building the kernel with a full set of LLVM tools gets very verbose and unwieldy. Provide a single switch LLVM=1 to use Clang and LLVM tools instead of GCC and Binutils. You can pass it from the command line or as an environment variable. Please note LLVM=1 does not turn on the integrated assembler. You need to pass LLVM_IAS=1 to use it. When the upstream kernel is ready for the integrated assembler, I think we can make it default. We discussed what we need, and we agreed to go with a simple boolean flag that switches both target and host tools: https://lkml.org/lkml/2020/3/28/494 https://lkml.org/lkml/2020/4/3/43 Some items discussed, but not adopted: - LLVM_DIR When multiple versions of LLVM are installed, I just thought supporting LLVM_DIR=/path/to/my/llvm/bin/ might be useful. So, we decided to not do this. - LLVM_SUFFIX Some distributions (e.g. Debian) package specific versions of LLVM with naming conventions that use the version as a suffix. CC = clang$(LLVM_SUFFIX) LD = ld.lld(LLVM_SUFFIX) ... will allow a user to pass LLVM_SUFFIX=-11 to use clang-11 etc., but the suffixed versions in /usr/bin/ are symlinks to binaries in /usr/lib/llvm-#/bin/, so this can also be handled by PATH. x86/speculation: Rename RETPOLINE_AMD to RETPOLINE_LFENCE
commit d45476d9832409371537013ebdd8dc1a7781f97a upstream. The RETPOLINE_AMD name is unfortunate since it isn't necessarily AMD only, in fact Hygon also uses it. Furthermore it will likely be sufficient for some Intel processors. Therefore rename the thing to RETPOLINE_LFENCE to better describe what it is. Add the spectre_v2=retpoline,lfence option as an alias to spectre_v2=retpoline,amd to preserve existing setups. However, the output of /sys/devices/system/cpu/vulnerabilities/spectre_v2 will be changed. selftests/zram: Adapt the situation that /dev/zram0 is being used

If zram-generator package is installed and works, then we can not remove
zram module because zram swap is being used. This case needs a clean zram
environment, change this test by using hot_add/hot_remove interface. So
even zram device is being used, we still can add zram device and remove
them in cleanup.
The two interface was introduced since kernel commit 6566d1a32bf7("zram:
add dynamic device add/remove functionality") in v4.2-rc1. If kernel
supports these two interface, we use hot_add/hot_remove to slove this
problem, if not, just check whether zram is being used or built in, then
skip it on old kernel.

selftests/zram01.sh: Fix compression ratio calculation
[ Upstream commit d18da7ec3719559d6e74937266d0416e6c7e0b31 ] zram01 uses `free -m` to measure zram memory usage. The results are no sense because they are polluted by all running processes on the system. We Should only calculate the free memory delta for the current process. So use the third field of /sys/block/zram<id>/mm_stat to measure memory usage instead. The file is available since kernel 4.1. orig_data_size(first): uncompressed size of data stored in this disk. compr_data_size(second): compressed size of data stored in this disk mem_used_total(third): the amount of memory allocated for this disk Also remove useless zram cleanup call in zram_fill_fs and so we don't need to cleanup zram twice if fails. selftests/zram: Skip max_comp_streams interface on newer kernel

Since commit 43209ea2d17a ("zram: remove max_comp_streams internals"), zram
has switched to per-cpu streams. Even kernel still keep this interface for
some reasons, but writing to max_comp_stream doesn't take any effect. So
skip it on newer kernel ie 4.7.
The code that comparing kernel version is from xfstests testsuite ext4/053.

selftests: futex: Use variable MAKE instead of make

Recursive make commands should always use the variable MAKE, not the
explicit command name ‘make’. This has benefits and removes the
following warning when multiple jobs are used for the build:

Nothing wrong in that, however, this was run with repeat >> 0 in bpf_prog_test_run_skb() and the same skb thus keeps changing until the pskb_expand_head() called from skb_cow() keeps bailing out in atomic alloc context with -ENOMEM. So upon return we'll basically have 0 headroom left yet blindly do the __skb_push() of 14 bytes and keep copying data from there in bpf_test_finish() out of bounds. Fix to check if we have enough headroom and if pskb_expand_head() fails, bail out with error. Another bug independent of this fix (but related in triggering above) is that BPF_PROG_TEST_RUN should be reworked to reset the skb/xdp buffer to it's original state from input as otherwise repeating the same test in a loop won't work for benchmarking when underlying input buffer is getting changed by the prog each time and reused for the next run leading to unexpected results. usb: testusb: Fix for showing the connection speed
[ Upstream commit f81c08f897adafd2ed43f86f00207ff929f0b2eb ] testusb' application which uses 'usbtest' driver reports 'unknown speed' from the function 'find_testdev'. The variable 'entry->speed' was not updated from the application. The IOCTL mentioned in the FIXME comment can only report whether the connection is low speed or not. Speed is read using the IOCTL USBDEVFS_GET_SPEED which reports the proper speed grade. The call is implemented in the function 'handle_testdev' where the file descriptor was availble locally. selftest: use mmap instead of posix_memalign to allocate memory
commit 0db282ba2c12c1515d490d14a1ff696643ab0f1b upstream. This test passes pointers obtained from anon_allocate_area to the userfaultfd and mremap APIs. This causes a problem if the system allocator returns tagged pointers because with the tagged address ABI the kernel rejects tagged addresses passed to these APIs, which would end up causing the test to fail. To make this test compatible with such system allocators, stop using the system allocator to allocate memory in anon_allocate_area, and instead just use mmap. perf probe-file: Delete namelist in del_events() on the error path

This second leak is caused by a strlist not being dellocated on error
inside probe_file__del_events.

selftests/powerpc: Fix "no_handler" EBB selftest
[ Upstream commit 45677c9aebe926192e59475b35a1ff35ff2d4217 ] The "no_handler_test" in ebb selftests attempts to read the PMU registers twice via helper function "dump_ebb_state". First dump is just before closing of event and the second invocation is done after closing of the event. The original intention of second dump_ebb_state was to dump the state of registers at the end of the test when the counters are frozen. But this will be achieved with the first call itself since sample period is set to low value and PMU will be frozen by then. Hence patch removes the dump which was done before closing of the event. selftests/vm/pkeys: fix alloc_random_pkey() to make it really, really random
[ Upstream commit f36ef407628835a7d7fb3d235b1f1aac7022d9a3 ] Patch series "selftests/vm/pkeys: Bug fixes and a new test". There has been a lot of activity on the x86 front around the XSAVE architecture which is used to context-switch processor state (among other things). In addition, AMD has recently joined the protection keys club by adding processor support for PKU. The AMD implementation helped uncover a kernel bug around the PKRU "init state", which actually applied to Intel's implementation but was just harder to hit. This series adds a test which is expected to help find this class of bug both on AMD and Intel. All the work around pkeys on x86 also uncovered a few bugs in the selftest. This patch (of 4): The "random" pkey allocation code currently does the good old: srand((unsigned int)time(NULL)); *But*, it unfortunately does this on every random pkey allocation. There may be thousands of these a second. time() has a one second resolution. So, each time alloc_random_pkey() is called, the PRNG is *RESET* to time(). This is nasty. Normally, if you do: srand(<ANYTHING>); foo = rand(); bar = rand(); You'll be quite guaranteed that 'foo' and 'bar' are different. But, if you do: srand(1); foo = rand(); srand(1); bar = rand(); You are quite guaranteed that 'foo' and 'bar' are the *SAME*. The recent "fix" effectively forced the test case to use the same "random" pkey for the whole test, unless the test run crossed a second boundary. Only run srand() once at program startup. This explains some very odd and persistent test failures I've been seeing. perf session: Correct buffer copying when peeking events

When peeking an event, it has a short path and a long path. The short
path uses the session pointer "one_mmap_addr" to directly fetch the
event; and the long path needs to read out the event header and the
following event data from file and fill into the buffer pointer passed
through the argument "buf".
The issue is in the long path that it copies the event header and event
data into the same destination address which pointer "buf", this means
the event header is overwritten. We are just lucky to run into the
short path in most cases, so we don't hit the issue in the long path.
This patch adds the offset "hdr_sz" to the pointer "buf" when copying
the event data, so that it can reserve the event header which can be
used properly by its caller.

bpf: do not allow root to mangle valid pointers

Do not allow root to convert valid pointers into unknown scalars.
In particular disallow:
ptr &= reg
ptr <<= reg
ptr += ptr
and explicitly allow:
ptr -= ptr
since pkt_end - pkt == length
1.
This minimizes amount of address leaks root can do.
In the future may need to further tighten the leaks with kptr_restrict.
2.
If program has such pointer math it's likely a user mistake and
when verifier complains about it right away instead of many instructions
later on invalid memory access it's easier for users to fix their progs.
3.
when register holding a pointer cannot change to scalar it allows JITs to
optimize better. Like 32-bit archs could use single register for pointers
instead of a pair required to hold 64-bit scalars.
4.
reduces architecture dependent behavior. Since code:
r1 = r10;
r1 &= 0xff;
if (r1 ...)
will behave differently arm64 vs x64 and offloaded vs native.
A significant chunk of ptr mangling was allowed by
commit f1174f77b50c ("bpf/verifier: rework value tracking")
yet some of it was allowed even earlier.

Update various selftest error messages: * The 'Rx tried to sub from different maps, paths, or prohibited types' is reworked into more specific/differentiated error messages for better guidance. * The change into 'value -4294967168 makes map_value pointer be out of bounds' is due to moving the mixed bounds check into the speculation handling and thus occuring slightly later than above mentioned sanity check. * The change into 'math between map_value pointer and register with unbounded min value' is similarly due to register sanity check coming before the mixed bounds check. * The case of 'map access: known scalar += value_ptr from different maps' now loads fine given masks are the same from the different paths (despite max map value size being different). Fix up test_verifier error messages for the case where the original error message changed, or for the case where pointer alu errors differ between privileged and unprivileged tests. Also, add alternative tests for keeping coverage of the original verifier rejection error message (fp alu), and newly reject map_ptr += rX where rX == 0 given we now forbid alu on these types for unprivileged. All test_verifier cases pass after the change. The test case fixups were kept separate to ease backporting of core changes. perf jevents: Fix getting maximum number of fds

On some hosts, rlim.rlim_max can be returned as RLIM_INFINITY.
By casting it to int, it is interpreted as -1, which will cause get_maxfds
to return 0, causing "Invalid argument" errors in nftw() calls.
Fix this by casting the second argument of min() to rlim_t instead.

perf intel-pt: Fix transaction abort handling

When adding support for power events, some handling of FUP packets was
unified. That resulted in breaking reporting of TSX aborts, by not
considering the associated TIP packet. Fix that.

perf intel-pt: Fix sample instruction bytes

The decoder reports the current instruction if it was decoded. In some
cases the current instruction is not decoded, in which case the instruction
bytes length must be set to zero. Ensure that is always done.
Note perf script can anyway get the instruction bytes for any samples where
they are not present.
Also note, that there is a redundant "ptq->insn_len = 0" statement which is
not removed until a subsequent patch in order to make this patch apply
cleanly to stable branches.

With the following command make -j60 LLVM=1 LLVM_IAS=1 <=== compile kernel make -j60 -C tools/testing/selftests/bpf LLVM=1 LLVM_IAS=1 V=1 some files are still compiled with gcc. This patch fixed lib.mk issue which sets CC to gcc in all cases. selftests also need to be fixed up, as was done originally
in mainline 80c9b2fae87b ("bpf: add various test cases to selftests").
4.14 commit 03f11a51a19 ("bpf: Fix selftests are changes for CVE 2019-7308")
did that, but since there was an error in the backport, some
selftests did not change output. So, add them now that this error
has been fixed, and their output has actually changed as expected.
This adds the rest of the changed test outputs from 80c9b2fae87b.
