FROMLIST: fuse: Definitions and ioctl for passthrough
Expose the FUSE_PASSTHROUGH interface to user space and declare all the basic data structures and functions as the skeleton on top of which the FUSE passthrough functionality will be built. As part of this, introduce the new FUSE passthrough ioctl, which allows the FUSE daemon to specify a direct connection between a FUSE file and a lower file system file. Such ioctl requires user space to pass the file descriptor of one of its opened files through the fuse_passthrough_out data structure introduced in this patch. This structure includes extra fields for possible future extensions. Also, add the passthrough functions for the set-up and tear-down of the data structures and locks that will be used both when fuse_conns and fuse_files are created/deleted. FROMLIST: fuse: 32-bit user space ioctl compat for fuse device
With a 64-bit kernel build the FUSE device cannot handle ioctl requests coming from 32-bit user space. This is due to the ioctl command translation that generates different command identifiers that thus cannot be used for direct comparisons without proper manipulation. Explicitly extract type and number from the ioctl command to enable 32-bit user space compatibility on 64-bit kernel builds. \fuse: return -ECONNABORTED on /dev/fuse read after abort
Currently the userspace has no way of knowing whether the fuse connection ended because of umount or abort via sysfs. It makes it hard for filesystems to free the mountpoint after abort without worrying about removing some new mount. The patch fixes it by returning different errors when userspace reads from /dev/fuse (-ENODEV for umount and -ECONNABORTED for abort). Add a new capability flag FUSE_ABORT_ERROR. If set and the connection is gone because of sysfs abort, reading from the device will return -ECONNABORTED. UPSTREAM: binder: tell userspace to dump current backtrace when detected oneway spamming
When async binder buffer got exhausted, some normal oneway transactions will also be discarded and may cause system or application failures. By that time, the binder debug information we dump may not be relevant to the root cause. And this issue is difficult to debug if without the backtrace of the thread sending spam. This change will send BR_ONEWAY_SPAM_SUSPECT to userspace when oneway spamming is detected, request to dump current backtrace. Oneway spamming will be reported only once when exceeding the threshold (target process dips below 80% of its oneway space, and current process is responsible for either more than 50 transactions, or more than 50% of the oneway space). And the detection will restart when the async buffer has returned to a healthy state. BACKPORT: FROMGIT: binder: fix freeze race
Currently cgroup freezer is used to freeze the application threads, and BINDER_FREEZE is used to freeze the corresponding binder interface. There's already a mechanism in ioctl(BINDER_FREEZE) to wait for any existing transactions to drain out before actually freezing the binder interface. But freezing an app requires 2 steps, freezing the binder interface with ioctl(BINDER_FREEZE) and then freezing the application main threads with cgroupfs. This is not an atomic operation. The following race issue might happen. 1) Binder interface is frozen by ioctl(BINDER_FREEZE); 2) Main thread A initiates a new sync binder transaction to process B; 3) Main thread A is frozen by "echo 1 > cgroup.freeze"; 4) The response from process B reaches the frozen thread, which will unexpectedly fail. This patch provides a mechanism to check if there's any new pending transaction happening between ioctl(BINDER_FREEZE) and freezing the main thread. If there's any, the main thread freezing operation can be rolled back to finish the pending transaction. Furthermore, the response might reach the binder driver before the rollback actually happens. That will still cause failed transaction. As the other process doesn't wait for another response of the response, the response transaction failure can be fixed by treating the response transaction like an oneway/async one, allowing it to reach the frozen thread. And it will be consumed when the thread gets unfrozen later. NOTE: This patch reuses the existing definition of struct binder_frozen_status_info but expands the bit assignments of __u32 member sync_recv. To ensure backward compatibility, bit 0 of sync_recv still indicates there's an outstanding sync binder transaction. This patch adds new information to bit 1 of sync_recv, indicating the binder transaction happens exactly when there's a race. If an existing userspace app runs on a new kernel, a sync binder call will set bit 0 of sync_recv so ioctl(BINDER_GET_FROZEN_INFO) still return the expected value (true). The app just doesn't check bit 1 intentionally so it doesn't have the ability to tell if there's a race. This behavior is aligned with what happens on an old kernel which doesn't set bit 1 at all. A new userspace app can 1) check bit 0 to know if there's a sync binder transaction happened when being frozen - same as before; and 2) check bit 1 to know if that sync binder transaction happened exactly when there's a race - a new information for rollback decision. binder: implement BINDER_FREEZE ioctl
Frozen tasks can't process binder transactions, so a way is required to inform transmitting ends of communication failures due to the frozen state of their receiving counterparts. Additionally, races are possible between transitions to frozen state and binder transactions enqueued to a specific process. Implement BINDER_FREEZE ioctl for user space to inform the binder driver about the intention to freeze or unfreeze a process. When the ioctl is called, block the caller until any pending binder transactions toward the target process are flushed. Return an error to transactions to processes marked as frozen. xfrm: enforce validity of offload input flags
commit 7c76ecd9c99b6e9a771d813ab1aa7fa428b3ade1 upstream. struct xfrm_user_offload has flags variable that received user input, but kernel didn't check if valid bits were provided. It caused a situation where not sanitized input was forwarded directly to the drivers. For example, XFRM_OFFLOAD_IPV6 define that was exposed, was used by strongswan, but not implemented in the kernel at all. As a solution, check and sanitize input flags to forward XFRM_OFFLOAD_INBOUND to the drivers. serial: 8250: Define RX trigger levels for OxSemi 950 devices
[ Upstream commit d7aff291d069c4418285f3c8ee27b0ff67ce5998 ] Oxford Semiconductor 950 serial port devices have a 128-byte FIFO and in the enhanced (650) mode, which we select in `autoconfig_has_efr' with the ECB bit set in the EFR register, they support the receive interrupt trigger level selectable with FCR bits 7:6 from the set of 16, 32, 112, 120. This applies to the original OX16C950 discrete UART[1] as well as 950 cores embedded into more complex devices. For these devices we set the default to 112, which sets an excessively high level of 112 or 7/8 of the FIFO capacity, unlike with other port types where we choose at most 1/2 of their respective FIFO capacities. Additionally we don't make the trigger level configurable. Consequently frequent input overruns happen with high bit rates where hardware flow control cannot be used (e.g. terminal applications) even with otherwise highly-performant systems. Lower the default receive interrupt trigger level to 32 then, and make it configurable. Document the trigger levels along with other port types, including the set of 16, 32, 64, 112 for the transmit interrupt as well[2]. icmp: don't send out ICMP messages with a source address of 0.0.0.0
[ Upstream commit 321827477360934dc040e9d3c626bf1de6c3ab3c ] When constructing ICMP response messages, the kernel will try to pick a suitable source address for the outgoing packet. However, if no IPv4 addresses are configured on the system at all, this will fail and we end up producing an ICMP message with a source address of 0.0.0.0. This can happen on a box routing IPv4 traffic via v6 nexthops, for instance. Since 0.0.0.0 is not generally routable on the internet, there's a good chance that such ICMP messages will never make it back to the sender of the original packet that the ICMP message was sent in response to. This, in turn, can create connectivity and PMTUd problems for senders. Fortunately, RFC7600 reserves a dummy address to be used as a source for ICMP messages (192.0.0.8/32), so let's teach the kernel to substitute that address as a last resort if the regular source address selection procedure fails. Below is a quick example reproducing this issue with network namespaces: ip netns add ns0 ip l add type veth peer netns ns0 ip l set dev veth0 up ip a add 10.0.0.1/24 dev veth0 ip a add fc00:dead:cafe:42::1/64 dev veth0 ip r add 10.1.0.0/24 via inet6 fc00:dead:cafe:42::2 ip -n ns0 l set dev veth0 up ip -n ns0 a add fc00:dead:cafe:42::2/64 dev veth0 ip -n ns0 r add 10.0.0.0/24 via inet6 fc00:dead:cafe:42::1 ip netns exec ns0 sysctl -w net.ipv4.icmp_ratelimit=0 ip netns exec ns0 sysctl -w net.ipv4.ip_forward=1 tcpdump -tpni veth0 -c 2 icmp & ping -w 1 10.1.0.1 > /dev/null tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v[v]... for full protocol decode listening on veth0, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), snapshot length 262144 bytes IP 10.0.0.1 > 10.1.0.1: ICMP echo request, id 29, seq 1, length 64 IP 0.0.0.0 > 10.0.0.1: ICMP net 10.1.0.1 unreachable, length 92 2 packets captured 2 packets received by filter 0 packets dropped by kernel With this patch the above capture changes to: IP 10.0.0.1 > 10.1.0.1: ICMP echo request, id 31127, seq 1, length 64 IP 192.0.0.8 > 10.0.0.1: ICMP net 10.1.0.1 unreachable, length 92 Fixes: 1da177e4c3f4 ("Linux-2.6.12-rc2") Reported-by: Juliusz Chroboczek <jch@irif.fr> Reviewed-by: David Ahern <dsahern@kernel.org> Signed-off-by: Toke Høiland-Jørgensen <toke@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: David S. tty: actually undefine superseded ASYNC flags
[ Upstream commit d09845e98a05850a8094ea8fd6dd09a8e6824fff ] Some kernel-internal ASYNC flags have been superseded by tty-port flags and should no longer be used by kernel drivers. Fix the misspelled "__KERNEL__" compile guards which failed their sole purpose to break out-of-tree drivers that have not yet been updated. Fixes: 5c0517fefc92 ("tty: core: Undefine ASYNC_* flags superceded by TTY_PORT* flags") Signed-off-by: Johan Hovold <johan@kernel.org> Link: https://lore.kernel.org/r/20210407095208.31838-2-johan@kernel.org Signed-off-by: Greg Kroah-Hartman <gregkh@linuxfoundation.org> Signed-off-by: Sasha Levin <sashal@kernel.org> |

net/ncsi: Add generic netlink family
commit 955dc68cb9b23b42999cafe6df3684309bc686c6 upstream. Add a generic netlink family for NCSI. This supports three commands; NCSI_CMD_PKG_INFO which returns information on packages and their associated channels, NCSI_CMD_SET_INTERFACE which allows a specific package or package/channel combination to be set as the preferred choice, and NCSI_CMD_CLEAR_INTERFACE which clears any preferred setting. uapi: nfnetlink_cthelper.h: fix userspace compilation error
commit c33cb0020ee6dd96cc9976d6085a7d8422f6dbed upstream. Apparently, <linux/netfilter/nfnetlink_cthelper.h> and <linux/netfilter/nfnetlink_acct.h> could not be included into the same compilation unit because of a cut-and-paste typo in the former header. BACKPORT: bpf: add bpf_ktime_get_boot_ns()
On a device like a cellphone which is constantly suspending and resuming CLOCK_MONOTONIC is not particularly useful for keeping track of or reacting to external network events. Instead you want to use CLOCK_BOOTTIME. Hence add bpf_ktime_get_boot_ns() as a mirror of bpf_ktime_get_ns() based around CLOCK_BOOTTIME instead of CLOCK_MONOTONIC. UPSTREAM: dma-buf: Fix SET_NAME ioctl uapi
The uapi is the same on 32 and 64 bit, but the number isn't. Everyone who botched this please re-read: https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/v5.4-preprc-cpu/ioctl/botching-up-ioctls.html Also, the type argument for the ioctl macros is for the type the void __user *arg pointer points at, which in this case would be the variable-sized char[] of a 0 terminated string. So this was botched in more than just the usual ways.
