tracing: Add usecs modifier for hist trigger timestamps
Appending .usecs onto a common_timestamp field will cause the
timestamp value to be in microseconds instead of the default
nanoseconds. A typical latency histogram using usecs would look like
this:

   # echo 'hist:keys=pid,prio:ts0=common_timestamp.usecs ...
   # echo 'hist:keys=next_pid:wakeup_lat=common_timestamp.usecs-$ts0 ...

This also adds an external trace_clock_in_ns() to trace.c for the
timestamp conversion.

tracing: Add timestamp_mode trace file
Add a new option flag indicating whether or not the ring buffer is in
'absolute timestamp' mode.

Currently this is only set/unset by hist triggers that make use of a
common_timestamp. As such, there's no reason to make this writeable
for users - its purpose is only to allow users to determine
unequivocally whether or not the ring buffer is in that mode (although
absolute timestamps can coexist with the normal delta timestamps, when
the ring buffer is in absolute mode, timestamps written while absolute
mode is in effect take up more space in the buffer, and are not as
efficient).

tracing: Move hist trigger Documentation to histogram.txt
The hist trigger Documentation takes up a large part of events.txt -
since it will be getting even larger, move it to a separate file.

70e65f65f2 random: fix sysctl documentation nits
commit 069c4ea6871c18bd368f27756e0f91ffb524a788 upstream.

A semicolon was missing, and the almost-alphabetical-but-not ordering
was confusing, so regroup these by category instead.

eed01a6b3e random: treat bootloader trust toggle the same way as cpu trust toggle
commit d97c68d178fbf8aaaf21b69b446f2dfb13909316 upstream.

If CONFIG_RANDOM_TRUST_CPU is set, the RNG initializes using RDRAND.
But, the user can disable (or enable) this behavior by setting
`random.trust_cpu=0/1` on the kernel command line. This allows system
builders to do reasonable things while avoiding howls from tinfoil
hatters. (Or vice versa.)

CONFIG_RANDOM_TRUST_BOOTLOADER is basically the same thing, but regards
the seed passed via EFI or device tree, which might come from RDRAND or
a TPM or somewhere else. In order to allow distros to more easily enable
this while avoiding those same howls (or vice versa), this commit adds
the corresponding `random.trust_bootloader=0/1` toggle.

f8a196cf47 random: remove ifdef'd out interrupt bench
commit 95e6060c20a7f5db60163274c5222a725ac118f9 upstream.

With tools like kbench9000 giving more finegrained responses, and this
basically never having been used ever since it was initially added,
let's just get rid of this. There *is* still work to be done on the
interrupt handler, but this really isn't the way it's being developed.

f82262f273 random: always wake up entropy writers after extraction
commit 489c7fc44b5740d377e8cfdbf0851036e493af00 upstream.

Now that POOL_BITS == POOL_MIN_BITS, we must unconditionally wake up
entropy writers after every extraction. Therefore there's no point of
write_wakeup_threshold, so we can move it to the dustbin of unused
compatibility sysctls. While we're at it, we can fix a small comparison
where we were waking up after <= min rather than < min.

08d453eca3 random: make CPU trust a boot parameter
commit 9b25436662d5fb4c66eb527ead53cab15f596ee0 upstream.

Instead of forcing a distro or other system builder to choose
at build time whether the CPU is trusted for CRNG seeding via
CONFIG_RANDOM_TRUST_CPU, provide a boot-time parameter for end users to
control the choice. The CONFIG will set the default state instead.

7a148e1140 BACKPORT: ext4: handle casefolding with encryption
[ Upstream commit 471fbbea7ff7061b2d6474665cb5a2ceb4fd6500 ]

This adds support for encryption with casefolding.

Since the name on disk is case preserving, and also encrypted, we can no
longer just recompute the hash on the fly. Additionally, to avoid
leaking extra information from the hash of the unencrypted name, we use
siphash via an fscrypt v2 policy.

The hash is stored at the end of the directory entry for all entries
inside of an encrypted and casefolded directory apart from those that
deal with '.' and '..'. This way, the change is backwards compatible
with existing ext4 filesystems.

[ Changed to advertise this feature via the file:
  /sys/fs/ext4/features/encrypted_casefold -- TYT ]

d6087dda37 x86/speculation/mmio: Add mitigation for Processor MMIO Stale Data
commit 8cb861e9e3c9a55099ad3d08e1a3b653d29c33ca upstream

Processor MMIO Stale Data is a class of vulnerabilities that may
expose data after an MMIO operation. For details please refer to
Documentation/admin-guide/hw-vuln/processor_mmio_stale_data.rst.

These vulnerabilities are broadly categorized as:

Device Register Partial Write (DRPW):
Some endpoint MMIO registers incorrectly handle writes that are
smaller than the register size. Instead of aborting the write or only
copying the correct subset of bytes (for example, 2 bytes for a 2-byte
write), more bytes than specified by the write transaction may be
written to the register. On some processors, this may expose stale
data from the fill buffers of the core that created the write
  transaction.

Shared Buffers Data Sampling (SBDS):
After propagators may have moved data around the uncore and copied
stale data into client core fill buffers, processors affected by MFBDS
can leak data from the fill buffer.

Shared Buffers Data Read (SBDR):
It is similar to Shared Buffer Data Sampling (SBDS) except that the
data is directly read into the architectural software-visible state.

An attacker can use these vulnerabilities to extract data from CPU fill
buffers using MDS and TAA methods. Mitigate it by clearing the CPU fill
buffers using the VERW instruction before returning to a user or a
guest.

On CPUs not affected by MDS and TAA, user application cannot sample data
from CPU fill buffers using MDS or TAA. A guest with MMIO access can
still use DRPW or SBDR to extract data architecturally. Mitigate it with
VERW instruction to clear fill buffers before VMENTER for MMIO capable
guests.

Add a kernel parameter mmio_stale_data={off|full|full,nosmt} to control
the mitigation.

2e6e05be2e ata: libata-transport: fix {dma|pio|xfer}_mode sysfs files
commit 72aad489f992871e908ff6d9055b26c6366fb864 upstream.

The {dma|pio}_mode sysfs files are incorrectly documented as having a
list of the supported DMA/PIO transfer modes, while the corresponding
fields of the *struct* ata_device hold the transfer mode IDs, not masks.

To match these docs, the {dma|pio}_mode (and even xfer_mode!) sysfs
files are handled by the ata_bitfield_name_match() macro which leads to
reading such kind of nonsense from them:

$ cat /sys/class/ata_device/dev3.0/pio_mode
XFER_UDMA_7, XFER_UDMA_6, XFER_UDMA_5, XFER_UDMA_4, XFER_MW_DMA_4,
XFER_PIO_6, XFER_PIO_5, XFER_PIO_4, XFER_PIO_3, XFER_PIO_2, XFER_PIO_1,
XFER_PIO_0

Using the correct ata_bitfield_name_search() macro fixes that:

$ cat /sys/class/ata_device/dev3.0/pio_mode
XFER_PIO_4

While fixing the file documentation, somewhat reword the {dma|pio}_mode
file doc and add a note about being mostly useful for PATA devices to
the xfer_mode file doc...

f99b4ac63e docs/conf.py: Cope with removal of language=None in Sphinx 5.0.0
commit 627f01eab93d8671d4e4afee9b148f9998d20e7c upstream.

One of the changes in Sphinx 5.0.0 [1] says [sic]:

    5.0.0 final

     - #10474: language does not accept None as it value.
The default value of language becomes to 'en' now.

[1]: https://www.sphinx-doc.org/en/master/changes.html#release-5-0-0-released-may-30-2022

It results in a new warning from Sphinx 5.0.0 [sic]:

WARNING: Invalid configuration value found: 'language = None'.
Update your configuration to a valid langauge code. Falling
    back to 'en' (English).

Silence the warning by using 'en'.
It works with all the Sphinx versions required for building
kernel documentation (1.7.9 or later).

locking: Implement an algorithm choice for Wound-Wait mutexes
The current Wound-Wait mutex algorithm is actually not Wound-Wait but
Wait-Die. Implement also Wound-Wait as a per-ww-class choice. Wound-Wait
is, contrary to Wait-Die a preemptive algorithm and is known to generate
fewer backoffs. Testing reveals that this is true if the
number of simultaneous contending transactions is small.
As the number of simultaneous contending threads increases, Wait-Wound
becomes inferior to Wait-Die in terms of elapsed time.
Possibly due to the larger number of held locks of sleeping transactions.

Update documentation and callers.

Timings using git://people.freedesktop.org/~thomash/ww_mutex_test

Each thread runs 100000 batches of lock / unlock 800 ww mutexes randomly

Wound-Wait 4 ~100 ~17s.

documentation: kernel-api: add more info on bitmap functions
There are some good comments about bitmap operations in lib/bitmap.c
and include/linux/bitmap.h, so format them for document generation and
pull them into core-api/kernel-api.rst.

I converted the "tables" of functions from using tabs to using spaces
so that they are more readable in the source file and in the generated
output.

The reference of "#15" had not been properly updated in a couple of
reorganizations during the plain-text SubmittingPatches era.

Fix it by using `the_canonical_patch_format`.

aaf166f37e Reinstate some of "swiotlb: rework "fix info leak with DMA_FROM_DEVICE""
commit 901c7280ca0d5e2b4a8929fbe0bfb007ac2a6544 upstream.

Halil Pasic points out [1] that the full revert of that commit (revert
in bddac7c1e02b), and that a partial revert that only reverts the
problematic case, but still keeps some of the cleanups is probably
better.

And that partial revert [2] had already been verified by Oleksandr
Natalenko to also fix the issue, I had just missed that in the long
discussion.

So let's reinstate the cleanups from commit aa6f8dcbab47 ("swiotlb:
rework "fix info leak with DMA_FROM_DEVICE""), and effectively only
revert the part that caused problems.

971e5dadff swiotlb: fix info leak with DMA_FROM_DEVICE
commit ddbd89deb7d32b1fbb879f48d68fda1a8ac58e8e upstream.

The problem I'm addressing was discovered by the LTP test covering
cve-2018-1000204.

A short description of what happens follows:
1) The test case issues a command code 00 (TEST UNIT READY) via the SG_IO
   interface with: dxfer_len == 524288, dxdfer_dir == SG_DXFER_FROM_DEV
and a corresponding dxferp. The peculiar thing about this is that TUR
is not reading from the device.
2) In sg_start_req() the invocation of blk_rq_map_user() effectively
bounces the user-space buffer. As if the device was to transfer into
it. Since commit a45b599ad808 ("scsi: sg: allocate with __GFP_ZERO in
sg_build_indirect()") we make sure this first bounce buffer is
   allocated with GFP_ZERO.
3) For the rest of the story we keep ignoring that we have a TUR, so the
device won't touch the buffer we prepare as if the we had a
DMA_FROM_DEVICE type of situation. My setup uses a virtio-scsi device
and the buffer allocated by SG is mapped by the function
virtqueue_add_split() which uses DMA_FROM_DEVICE for the "in" sgs (here
scatter-gather and not scsi generics). This mapping involves bouncing
via the swiotlb (we need swiotlb to do virtio in protected guest like
s390 Secure Execution, or AMD SEV).
4) When the SCSI TUR is done, we first copy back the content of the second
(that is swiotlb) bounce buffer (which most likely contains some
previous IO data), to the first bounce buffer, which contains all
zeros. Then we copy back the content of the first bounce buffer to
   the user-space buffer.
5) The test case detects that the buffer, which it zero-initialized,
  ain't all zeros and fails.

One can argue that this is an swiotlb problem, because without swiotlb
we leak all zeros, and the swiotlb should be transparent in a sense that
it does not affect the outcome (if all other participants are well
behaved).

Copying the content of the original buffer into the swiotlb buffer is
the only way I can think of to make swiotlb transparent in such
scenarios. So let's do just that if in doubt, but allow the driver
to tell us that the whole mapped buffer is going to be overwritten,
in which case we can preserve the old behavior and avoid the performance
impact of the extra bounce.

dt-bindings: Add frame threshold property for dsi controller
Change adds frame threshold time property in microseconds
to the controller. This specifies the idle time of controller
in command mode operation and is used to calculate the dsi
clocks if there is no preferred clock for the panel.

net: increase SOMAXCONN to 4096
SOMAXCONN is /proc/sys/net/core/somaxconn default value.

It has been defined as 128 more than 20 years ago.

Since it caps the listen() backlog values, the very small value has
caused numerous problems over the years, and many people had
to raise it on their hosts after beeing hit by problems.

Google has been using 1024 for at least 15 years, and we increased
this to 4096 after TCP listener rework has been completed, more than
4 years ago. We got no complain of this change breaking any
legacy application.

Many applications indeed setup a TCP listener with listen(fd, -1);
meaning they let the system select the backlog.

Raising SOMAXCONN lowers chance of the port being unavailable under
even small SYNFLOOD attack, and reduces possibilities of side channel
vulnerabilities.

net-tcp: extend tcp_tw_reuse sysctl to enable loopback only optimization
This changes the /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_tw_reuse from a boolean
to an integer.

It now takes the values 0, 1 and 2, where 0 and 1 behave as before,
while 2 enables timewait socket reuse only for sockets that we can
prove are loopback connections:
ie. bound to 'lo' interface or where one of source or destination
  IPs is 127.0.0.0/8, ::ffff:127.0.0.0/104 or ::1.

This enables quicker reuse of ephemeral ports for loopback connections
- where tcp_tw_reuse is 100% safe from a protocol perspective
(this assumes no artificially induced packet loss on 'lo').

This also makes estblishing many loopback connections *much* faster
(allocating ports out of the first half of the ephemeral port range
is significantly faster, then allocating from the second half)

Without this change in a 32K ephemeral port space my sample program
(it just establishes and closes [::1]:ephemeral -> [::1]:server_port
connections in a tight loop) fails after 32765 connections in 24 seconds.
With it enabled 50000 connections only take 4.7 seconds.

This is particularly problematic for IPv6 where we only have one local
address and cannot play tricks with varying source IP from 127.0.0.0/8
pool.

tcp: increase tcp_max_syn_backlog max value
tcp_max_syn_backlog default value depends on memory size
and TCP ehash size. Before this patch, the max value
was 2048 [1], which is considered too small nowadays.

Increase it to 4096 to match the recent SOMAXCONN change.

[1] This is with TCP ehash size being capped to 524288 buckets.

BACKPORT: cgroup: Add named hierarchy disabling to cgroup_no_v1 boot param
It can be useful to inhibit all cgroup1 hierarchies especially during
transition and for debugging. cgroup_no_v1 can block hierarchies with
controllers which leaves out the named hierarchies. Expand it to
cover the named hierarchies so that "cgroup_no_v1=all,named" disables
all cgroup1 hierarchies.

clk: qcom: clk-cpu-osm: Allow overriding CPU frequency tables in DT
Sometimes, it may be desirable to use CPU frequency tables different
from the ones in the hardware's OSM LUTs. This commit adds support for
overriding each CPU's frequency table with a list of allowed frequencies
defined in the OSM driver's DT node.
